Pathway to Y.E.S. is a program that helps adults find and keep jobs as well as other services. If you desire full- or part-time employment, we can help. We specialize in job readiness training, job placement, job coaching, and follow-up. We have placed employees in small to mid-sized organizations, and they have proved to be excellent employees. We believe in you and your ability to work.

I am so excited about this opportunity to provide employment services to you. I have helped hundreds of individuals and those with disabilities to secure gainful employment in positions with companies they love. As CEO and Founder, my greatest fulfillment is being able to assist consumers and their families in gaining meaningful employment. This goal is possible for anyone who desires to find the right employment opportunity. My commitment is to deliver educational training through small classes and web-based technology to anyone who wants to succeed. It is also my goal and that of my staff to assist youth, adults, and families with whole-body wellness, with an emphasis on persons experiencing life transitions that affect sustained employment.

Course Descriptions

Anger Management

This course provides an overview of anger management principles for productive behavior in personal life and workplace settings. Topics include expectations, personal identity triggers, stereotypes, personal beliefs, habits, self-esteem, and verbal and nonverbal communication. Particular emphasis is placed on managing and preventing inappropriate anger in workplace and personal situations. Activities use stories, humor, and real-life situations to support appropriate anger management.

 

Basic Computer Literacy Introduction

This course introduces computers, the Internet, productivity programs, digital audio and video, and related photography. Students explore career opportunities and develop basic computer skills using spreadsheets, presentation programs, and databases. They also identify common computer risks and learn steps to minimize them.

 

Basic Computer Operations 1

This interactive course builds computer skills with an emphasis on ACCESS programs that are in demand and can support income-building opportunities. Skill development includes e-commerce and website building, Microsoft and open-source operating systems, software, and network design and management.

 

Basic Computer Operations 2

This interactive course builds computer skills with an emphasis on MICROSOFT programs that are in demand and can support income-building opportunities. Skill development includes e-commerce and website building, Microsoft and open-source operating systems, software, and network design and management.

 

Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics (STEM)

This program expands technology education, with a particular focus on socioeconomically disadvantaged populations. It provides workforce development training that equips individuals with skills for in-demand information technology career opportunities, combining high-quality education with authentic hands-on training. Students develop mathematics, science, technology, engineering, and computer programming skills as they design, build, and test autonomous and remote-controlled robots and computers for competition and display. Projects include independent navigation, sensing and responding to the environment, and collecting, lifting, and placing objects. Creative, practical activities build self-esteem and confidence while preparing students for the technological future. Students and adults can register and earn CompTIA A+ certification. Students receive mentoring, peer cognitive sessions, and cyber robotics training.

 

Cultural Competency

This course examines cultural diversity and its impact on living and working together. It explores the ethics, language patterns, and workplace practices of different cultures. Research, news media, and appropriate ethical behaviors are explored through instructional and experiential activities.

 

ESL Adult Basic Education Course / English as a Second Language

This program develops basic conversational, reading, and writing skills for individuals learning English as a second language. Students expand their vocabulary through workplace literacy, everyday English, telephone English, making appointments, and reading traffic signs.

 

GED Basic Education Course

This program is designed for individuals who have scored unsatisfactorily on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) Level D or have not completed high school. It emphasizes proficiency in mathematics, social studies, science, language arts reading, and language arts writing, along with strong literacy and mathematics skills. Graduates develop the knowledge and skills needed to pass high school equivalency or GED examinations.

 

Nutrition Management

This course explores nutrition facts and the effects of food, body chemistry, culture, and eating on nutritional status. Topics address disease, energy, and wellness, including nutrient calculations; digestion, absorption, and metabolism; body composition and weight management; vegetarianism; activity and nutrition; chronic disease; and environmental issues. Students maintain personal wellness charts, analyze their health and pantry, complete grocery shopping exercises, and plan and complete a wellness cooking class. Students receive a certificate of completion.

 

Job Support Training

This course strengthens work-readiness and career-development skills for advancement and promotion. Topics include workplace ethics and behavior, goal setting, dressing for personal expression and success, networking, interviewing, developing resumes, communication, and technical writing.

 

The Job Skills Trainer / Job Coach Course

This course provides consumers and students with the skills and knowledge to use their talents effectively in the employment process. Topics include community employment, the employment process, knowing your employer, effective communication, and workplace behavior.

 

The Job Placement Specialist

This course provides consumers and students with strategies and tools to search for, obtain, and retain competitive employment. Students learn to access and maintain successful employment through career tools, communication, interviews, and related skills.

 

The Vocational Adjustment Training

This course develops the skills and knowledge needed to help consumers become work- and job-ready. Activities, assignments, and participant feedback help strengthen skills in appropriate disclosure, money management, transportation, and the soft skills needed for workplace success, while increasing knowledge of the world of work.

 

Spanish

This course advances conversational skills and basic writing in Spanish. Students learn new vocabulary, past-tense forms, and other useful grammar, with an emphasis on speaking and basic writing and correspondence. Students create dialogues on specified topics, complete readings and short compositions, and examine the cultures of Spanish-speaking people around the world. Classroom instruction is supplemented by language-lab activities. The course requires five documented hours of lab work outside class.

 

Stress Management

This course introduces the basic principles of stress and management approaches for individuals and workplaces. Students examine how stress affects the body and how attitudes, lifestyle, and eating habits influence its severity and symptoms. They learn proactive and preventive techniques to reduce stress. Topics connect the mind and attitudes with interpersonal relationships, time management, relaxation, parenting, supervision, boundaries, and assertive communication.

 

Tax Preparation Training

This course provides basic instruction in tax laws as implemented by the Internal Revenue Service. Students build or improve their knowledge and skills in preparing individual taxes. Topics include individual taxation, gross income, deductions, losses, credits, tax computations, basis determination, capital gains and losses, depreciable business property, and installment sales.
